Nationally-designated Important Cultural Property

Osaka City Central Public Hall was completed in 1918 after a donation was made by Einosuke Iwamoto, a prominent stockbroker of the time. In the century since its completion, the building has become a cultural and artistic hub beloved by the citizens of Osaka. In 2002, after additional preservation and restoration work, the building was designated an Important Cultural Property by the national government for its extreme value as a piece of historical architecture. Noted for its interior design as well as beautiful exterior, the Central Public Hall is a defining landmark of Nakanoshima's townscape.
