The Osaka MICE Safety EXPO 2021 has opened!
New models for safe and secure events, coming from Osaka!
Presenting ideas on different management methods and tools for safety and infectious disease control, the Osaka MICE Safety EXPO aims to ease the concerns that event organizers, exhibitors, and attendees may have about events. This trade show marks a critical moment in the revival of the MICE industry, and the Osaka prefecture and city governments along with various economic organizations support the event as a unified body representing all of Osaka. Different national ministries as well as the Japan Association for the 2025 World Expo are also backing this event.
The Osaka MICE Safety EXPO will express to the world Japan’s undeniable appeal as a MICE destination and the safety, security, and cleanliness that define the country. The planned exhibition space has been filled up, exceeding the expectations of all those involved. We believe that the success of this event will mark the revival of the MICE industry in Japan.
Attending the event's opening ceremony were representatives from Osaka city (the organizers of the event) as well as from other governmental authorities and tourism and exhibition industry members. Osaka Convention & Tourism Bureau President Hiroshi Mizohata was also in attendance. MIchiteru Kashiwagi, chief of the Osaka City Government Economic Strategy Bureau, began with opening remarks expressing the event's status as a major first step towards economic activity, and his desire for all attendees to build up new business opportunities together while overcoming the pandemic and aiming for the post-pandemic era. Norihisa Hamada, chairman of the Japan Exhibition Association, as well as Morikatsu Yoshida, vice chairman of the Nippon Display Federation, also addressed the audience.
Afterwards, OCTB President Mizohata spoke, declaring "With the goal of Japan becoming a forefront travel destination in 2030, we are aiming for Osaka to be Japan's top runner in tourism and MICE. Through this event we would like to share the right way to hold MICE events, and to make a declaration for in-person events."
The guest speakers all then came forward to cut the ceremonial ribbon. It was at this moment that the MICE industry received its next vital push forward here in Osaka towards restarting and revitalizing economic activity.
