Osaka MICE Business Alliance seminar at Namba SkyO Convention Hall

The theme of this year's event is sustainable management of MICE.

The Osaka Convention & Tourism Bureau hosted a seminar in Namba SkyO Convention Hall for the members of Osaka MICE Business Alliance on Wednesday, March 8, 2023.

The Osaka Convention & Tourism Bureau operates the Osaka MICE Business Alliance , a collective of hotels, venues, restaurants, entertainers, caterers, design professionals, and other businesses within the meetings and events industry. The Business Alliance strives to provide a one-stop service so that meeting and event planners can find success and ease in hosting their international events in Osaka.

Opening Remarks

For the opening remarks, the OCTB Director of MICE Policy Yoshikazu Tanaka emphasized on why it is so vital for the event industry to engage in sustainability. He also explained about the SDGs for MICE Event Evaluation System, the first evaluation system in this field and was launched by the OCTB, and about sustainable management for MICE.

Event Sustainable Management ESMS

Yasushi Nagami, Director General Extraordinary of Policy and Planning Bureau, Executive Director of Sustainability Department Director of Planning Division, Japan Association for the 2025 World Exposition, presented on the topics of the current situation and the efforts put into sustainability of Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai. He also explained about the challenges and sustainability for the legacy of Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai.

Urban Development in Osaka Minami Area starting from Namba Parks and Namba Station

Fukui and Shirasaki from Nankai Electric Railway gave a presentation on urban development in the Osaka Minami area. They showcased how the area changed after the border restriction was loosened and how it is going to be in the future with more facilities focusing on entertainment and attracting people to stay in the area.

Model Case on Namba SkyO Convention Hall

Model cases on how the Namba SkyO Convention Hall was used for past events and the concept of the facility was introduced by Nakaoka from Namba SkyO Convention Hall. With the Swissotel Nankai Osaka located in the same building, there is no transportation time needed, making it the perfect facility for holding events, conferences and so on.

About Namba SkyO Convention Hall

Namba SkyO Convention Hall is directly connected to the Nankai Namba Station. You can access it from Kansai International Airport by taking the Nankai Electric Railway, from Itami Airport by limousine buses, from Shin-Osaka Station by subway, all without changing trains or buses. A hall with a capacity of 460 people, and four meeting rooms of various sizes are available for an array of events.
