Osaka prepares for Japan's largest medical convention!
Gearing up for The 32nd General Assembly of The Japan Medical Congress
Osaka is well known globally for its cutting-edge research facilities, including the newly developed Nakanoshima Qross, medical tourism, and healthcare. This shined through in last year’s global event Expo 2025, which was themed “Bettering Society for Our Future Lives.” A large focal point of the Expo was showcasing global technology and progress in the medical field. Osaka’s own innovation was given stage at the Osaka Healthcare Pavilion “Nest for Reborn” located in front of the main east gates.
As a legacy to the momentous event that brought millions of people together, one of Japan’s oldest and largest annual medical convention, The 32nd General Assembly of The Japan Medical Congress will be held in Osaka during early spring of 2027. The event is split into two parts; a scientific lecture series and information exchange/exhibition for medical professionals, both of which take place late April, and exhibitions open to the public beginning late March. The public exhibitions are expected to attract around 1 million visitors to the Umeda area.
The significance of this event, including the regional benefits of its gravitational pull and potential to drive future advancement and innovation has garnered much attention.
As part of the preparation leading to this monumental event, the Osaka Convention & Tourism Bureau held the Momentum Building Meeting for The General Assembly of The Japan Medical Congress on June 17th. The meeting aimed to build support from key figures from various sectors in Osaka. It also marked an unprecedented undertaking of the General Assembly of The Japan Medical Congress working with the private sector, local municipalities, and the tourism bureau as one.
Attending members including representatives of transportation giants, financial bodies, and more expressed their overwhelming support and commitment to assist in driving the event’s success. The meeting concluded with each organization agreeing to proceed with specific steps on how to build momentum.
