As part of the Expo '70 Commemorative Park Station Front Area Revitalization Project, Osaka Prefecture aims to create a new sports and cultural hub representing the Kansai region, centered around a large-scale arena. One of the key components of the project is the construction of a major arena within the grounds of Expo '70 Commemorative Park. The arena is scheduled to open and will feature a seating capacity of approximately 18,000, making it one of the largest arenas in western Japan. 

Designed to host international sporting events, the arena is expected to become a catalyst for regional revitalization. In addition to the arena, the development will include a hotel, commercial facilities, office space, and residential buildings, creating a vibrant mixed-use district.

The project is being led by Mitsubishi Estate Urban Development Co., Ltd., Anschutz Entertainment Group (AEG), and Kanden Realty & Development Co., Ltd.

Following Kubota Corporation's relocation of its headquarters to the Umeda area, detailed plans are now underway for the redevelopment of its former headquarters site. The project is scheduled to open after 2032.

The entire district will be known as "Kubota Field," while the arena itself is provisionally named "Kubota LaLa Arena." At its core will be a multi-purpose arena with a capacity of approximately 12,500 people, designed to accommodate a wide range of events, including sports competitions and live entertainment.

The development will also feature a hotel to meet accommodation demand generated by arena visitors as well as Osaka's strong inbound tourism market. Commercial facilities are also planned to ensure year-round activity and vibrancy, even on days when no arena events are taking place.

Through the attraction of diverse arena events, the project seeks to establish a new destination that draws visitors from across Japan and abroad while generating additional economic activity throughout the Namba area.

The project is being jointly promoted by Mitsui Fudosan Co., Ltd. and Kanden Realty & Development Co., Ltd.

The Eastern Osaka Castle Area is being developed under the urban development concept of an "Innovation Field City Growing Together with Universities."

The project aims to create an attractive urban district that supports innovation while attracting visitors from Japan and overseas. In addition to visitor-oriented facilities, the development will incorporate business networking functions and hubs for knowledge and information exchange, fostering collaboration among universities, businesses, and local communities.

A new railway station is also under consideration. The station complex is envisioned as an advanced mobility hub integrating underground, ground-level, aerial, and waterfront transportation services. The goal is to establish Osaka's premier intermodal transportation hub, connecting all major modes of urban mobility.

Entertainment and sports will serve as key pillars of the development, complemented by retail facilities, residential components, and other attractions. Plans include a large-scale venue with a capacity of more than 10,000 people, taking advantage of its prime station-front location.

The project is expected to create synergy with the nearby Osaka-jō Hall while promoting academic and business exchanges centered around Osaka Metropolitan University. Through the development of arena and hall facilities, the area will become a major destination for events, networking, and community engagement, attracting audiences from both Japan and abroad.
