On September 10, during the International Sustainability Week 2026 held in Malaysia, the Osaka Convention & Tourism Bureau concluded a Memorandum of Collaboration with Qube Integrated Malaysia Sdn Bhd in the field of MICE.
The memorandum establishes a collaborative framework with Qube Integrated Malaysia, a company with an extensive MICE network and venue operations across Malaysia and the broader ASEAN region, focusing on bilateral MICE attraction, joint promotional activities, and human resource development.
The agreement is expected to accelerate the attraction of major conferences, exhibitions, and incentive programs from the rapidly growing ASEAN MICE market, while enhancing Osaka’s presence as a leading MICE destination through collaboration with Qube’s exhibitions and summits.
During ISW2026, held locally in Malaysia, Mr. Tanaka, Director of MICE Policy at the Osaka Convention & Tourism Bureau, delivered a presentation on the legacy of Expo 2025, emphasizing Osaka’s commitment to attracting and hosting business events of all scales. He also highlighted the upcoming Integrated Resort scheduled to open in 2030, noting that it will further enhance Osaka’s appeal as a premier host city.
He also noted that MITEC in Malaysia has established state‑of‑the‑art facilities and highly comfortable spaces, emphasizing the significant gap compared with MICE venues in Osaka and Japan. He commented that, in addition to the new MICE facilities planned within the upcoming Integrated Resort, existing venues such as INTEX Osaka and the Osaka International Convention Center are already considering renovations. He stressed that, given the rapid advancement of competing Asian cities, Osaka must seize this opportunity to elevate its MICE infrastructure to true global standards.
