Osaka’s MICE Areas are nine urban areas across Osaka that each feature tight-knit collaboration among the facilities and suppliers in the area to provide exceptional service for meetings and events. For this fifth installment, we present the Izumisano Area, the gateway to Osaka and the greater Kansai area.

The Izumisano Area houses Kansai International Airport (KIX), the biggest international airport in both Osaka and the greater Kansai Area. Situated south of Osaka city, it is accessible via the JR and Nankai lines. While known for its famous access at global gateway to the region as western Japan's primary hub for air travel, it's charm and limits exceed being a port of access. This area of Osaka Prefecture holds a wide range of tourist attractions ranging from the modern Kansai Airport Ice Arena and the Rinku Town Premium Outlets, to the historical Hinenosho village and Inunakiyama Onsen hot springs. Additionally, the developed commercial district right next to the airport offers venues suited for events and meetings of all kinds.
In July 2026, Kansai International Airport completed rennovations that began in 2021 to its Terminal 1 area. The grand opening revealed an expanded shopping space in the International Departures area. Complete with over 50 shops including global brands such as Tiffany&Co. and Swatch, as well as Osaka’s very own Universal Studios Japan shop, travelers can enjoy the luxury of one final shopping spree before departing.
Plans to relocate one of the popular pavilions of Expo 2025, Dialogue Theater: Way of Life, to Izumisano are currently underway. The pavilion will ultimately be moved to the Izumisano Hillside Green Space, and plans to reopen in 2028, a part of the Expo legacy. It expected to become a hub of creation where people can come together to build community and create innovation.

Izumisano Convention Bureau brings together local businesses to increase the number MICE events to the area and deliver exceptional services for organizers and participants alike. These businesses and stakeholders come together periodically throughout the year to discuss how to further improve MICE competitiveness and provide even better services.
In the wake of the successful Expo 2025 and the future integrated resort on the horizon, Osaka is set to become even more attractive as it welcomes increasing numbers of domestic and international visitors.
