Osaka Castle Area MICE

Osaka’s MICE Areas are nine urban areas across Osaka that each feature tight-knit collaboration among the facilities and suppliers in the area to provide exceptional service for meetings and events. For this third installment, we present the Osaka Castle Area, which has an impressive history of hosting large-scale MICE events.

Home to Osaka's most popular tourist destination, Osaka Castle and location of numerous international conventions such as the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC), this easily accessible area has a high concentration of MICE facilities such as hotels and halls. One such is Hotel New Otani Osaka, which possesses an expansive banquet hall capable of holding around 3,000 people. Other notable places such as Imperial Hotel Osaka and Hotel Monterey La Soeur Osaka also contain suitable facilities for MICE events, contributing to the popularity of the area. In accordance with the fall 2025 opening of Osaka Metropolitan University's Morinomiya Campus and plans for a venue capable of holding over 10,000 people, this area is expected to garner even more attention in the coming years.

Unique Venue: Osaka Geihinkan Former Guest House

In November, 1995, the Osaka Geihinkan Former Guest House welcomed APEC '95, the first ever of its kind to be held in Japan outside of Tokyo. Built for the event, the structure was modeled after the Shiro Shoin ('White Drawing Room') of Nijo Castle in Kyoto, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, aiming to allow the international diplomats to experience the spirit of "omotenashi," otherwise known as Japanese hospitality. Since then, the space has been utilized in a large number of events and receptions. We invite you to create unforgettable memories in this elegant, refined space.
